A CALL TO ACTION!

Moral Crisis

One idea above all others threatens this great nation. In my opinion, that threat it the concept of moral equivalency (in all its guises). Why you ask?

Because if there is no such thing as objective truth, how can you challenge any unworkable belief? Therefore, I might say, that socialism doesn’t work. Their answer would be, that’s only within your frame of reference/bias, etc. Just as there are the laws of physics, there must be social laws.

A good example is the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Rigoberta Menchu Tum for “I Rigoberta Tum.”. She helped write a book in 1982, that the left has warmly embraced and has become required reading in thousands of college classes. This of course has lead to the replacement of former classics from their curriculum. The left has used her book to support the concept of multi-culturalism. Her argument for peasant radicalism provides the ammunition for leftists which condemn Western Civilization as we know it. Unfortunately, her book has been proven to be a pack of lies. She wasn’t illiterate; she had been educated in a Catholic boarding school. Nor was she raised poor. The land dispute which she wrote about didn’t pit her family against the ruling class, but her direct family with their relatives, because they were all landowners. So in other words, her book was based upon romanticism. Did the Nobel committee cancel her prize? No, in fact her book is as popular as ever and still sells thousands of copies and taught in numerous classes. Her supporters support her fabrications because it lends creedance to a good cause. Remember this was the argument that Oprah used at first when it was revealed that her book of the month about addiction, was  mostly fabricated.

Dan Rather as you might remember and his producer Mary Mapes used this same sort of argument in defending their story about George Bush and his National Guard Service. That is, the memo on which their story was based might be fake, but the underlying story is still valid. Only because we live in a fabulously rich country can people get away with this, in that their beliefs are never challenged by reality. In other word you can believe anything you want in our society as long as you have a cushy job, which doesn’t challenge your theories. Our universities are full of such people. They still preach Marxism even though it has been thoroughly discredited, because the American Taxpayers continue to pay their salary no matter what they say or do. Ward Churchhill is a good example. It has been proven that he isn't Native American, nor an artist and has plegerized most of his work. Any society which fills its members with unsupported beliefs is bound to fail. A good example as of late is the clamoring for “windfall profits tax.” Most Americans are unaware that this has been tried before and actually caused higher prices and shortages. Yet stooges like Arlen Specter drag it out again like an old and worn theatre prop. Of course you won’t hear anyone in Congress calling for a cancelling of the 75 cent federal tax on gasoline, if even temporarily. Will America wake up in time to change her course or are we destined to follow the footsteps of ancient Rome and the Exon Valdez.

Peace.
